NIKKI RATANAPANICHKICH
the sun is also a star
the sun is also a cell
electrified.
the sun is also an egg
and what's inside
comes dripping out with yolky hesitation,
sways sleepily, then pools onto the pavement,
and shines.
the sun loves me deeper
than it loves them.
the sun sinks down and seeps
into my skin,
imprints the shade of its ablaze embrace,
lends me some shimmer and a radiant face.
I burn within.
the sun is also a she
with molten eyes.
the sun is also a she
who smiles, alight
in chambers where she sheds layers and luster
and pressurizes rooms into combustors
when she ignites.
