I’d deck out my truck with
an American flag, Trump flag

and LED lights, said a person nearby
when we went to dinner. My son

texted, The couple next to me
was talkin n the lady said sum

to the man n he side eyed
the heck out of me n rolled em.

The restaurant was jammed
with white families,

parking tight with pickups. My son
has dreads, voice deep

from testosterone injections. It
was 102 degrees. Stringed chili lights

and the people at our table
made the evening bearable but

we’re leaving Texas when we can.
