and hallowed be for a cut
the head verse
the neck verse
miserere mei deus illiterate
not every outstretched hand gathers raindrops
safety in numbers or…
                                            flags
the no man’s land between two battlefronts
shield to shield
spear to spear
or perhaps an emptiness between

entire books written on warfare
not a single one on the moment of impact

the most common knowledge
is the one most dearly missed
