CLAYTON LONGSTAFF

Mirrors & Lilies
			after Ingeborg Bachmann

On a ferried water
mirror lilies
mirror
beneath a lily-mirrored sky
of gnat &
mayfly
larvae spangled
seam
along a ferried water
of mirrors & lilies,
my hand

wakes
a hand within the mirror:
cat-tailing
reeds
of an instrument heard
but never seen
behind a fanned
hand of trees
like cards
who’s Coltrane who’s Dolphy who’s
Listz who’s Falla
springs
a hatful of doves
to a feather-mirrored sky
on a ferried water,
my hand
